Addie Mwakikoti Crenshaw is a Texan writer and filmmaker with Tanzanian roots. A Registered Nurse for Nineteen years, she is also a passionate storyteller dedicated to inspiring self-reflection and change. She developed her love for writing as a teenager, creating plays for her church before enrolling in the University of Texas Arlington film production program, where her first film was selected for the school’s festival. Her work includes the short films Two Weeks, a drama and Insurance, a psychological thriller about a cop seeking revenge against his childhood abuser. She has also written two feature films, Getaway (thriller) and Johanna (drama), her passion project. In addition to film, Addie is an author, of Voices of Change: A South Oak Cliff Story set for 2025. She is currently in pre-production for two documentaries—one about South Oak Cliff High School and another about skateboarder Deon Harris. Married to human rights activist Damon Crenshaw Jr., she continues to merge storytelling with advocacy, focusing on themes of justice, resilience, and empowerment.
